Genomtec S.A. is among the winners of the first edition of the Architekci Innowacji competition in the Emerging Technologies category. The competition is to find and promote innovative technological projects, identify and promote good practices in the application of new technologies or innovative solutions, and recognise the businesses that consistently invest in innovation.
Puls Biznesu: Molecular diagnostics is associated with a great laboratory and advanced equipment. Genomtec transfers these standards into a small, portable device that will be available not only to doctors, veterinary surgeons or scientists but also to individual users, such as parents of young children. The product is based on the patented technology, known to scientists as the INNAT (Isothermal Nucleic Acid Amplification Technology). In practice, it makes it possible to determine the types of viruses, bacteria and fungi, as well as detect genetic mutations based on the detection of specific DNA and RNA fragments. The analysis only takes 20 minutes. The solution counteracts the antibiotic resistance, which, according to the Company representatives, will be the cause of death of as many as 10 million people a year by 2050. At the moment, the Company is working on detection tests for the most oncogenic types of the human papillomavirus and bacteria that cause Lyme disease. The method is also being adapted to the early diagnostics of cancer.
