Our portable laboratory, the size of a\u00a0smartphone, which needs a\u00a0mere 20\u00a0minutes to identify viruses, bacteria, genetic mutations and fungi was the best in stirring the audience\u2019s emotions during the Start-up Challenge competition, and won the title of the best start-up in the health & biotechnology category.<\/p>\n

Fellow competitors were strong and the road to the finals not an easy one. Nearly 200\u00a0start-ups were actually competing for the jury\u2019s appreciation of the potential of their innovative solutions in the Start-up Challenge, under this year\u2019s slogan: \u201cTechnologies that change the world\u201d. The jury selected 100\u00a0projects in 6\u00a0categories: new industry, environment, tradition & modernity, health & biotechnology, business processes and client & lifestyle. Start-up creators had a\u00a0chance to present themselves to potential investors and representatives of large corporations within the Scale-up Alley, a\u00a0dedicated space for business visionaries. Only 18\u00a0start-ups made it to the big finale (3\u00a0in each category), to further compete for the title of the \u201cStart-up Challenge Winner\u201d on the stage of the European Economic Congress and the European Start-up Days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
